Why Not the nerd?

Here's a poem I wrote and published in my book of poetry. Hopefully most of us have outgrown some of the things here so this is mainly for the kids.

Why Not The Nerd

Why not the nerd?
Why doesn't the nerd get the girl?
We're not jokes, we're real people.
Don't make fun of us because we're smart.
So we like things you don't get.

Why not the nerd?
Why doesn't the nerd get invited to parties?
We don't get much practice socializing.
Trivia is our communication.
It's how we break the ice.

Why not the nerd?
Why doesn't the nerd have non-nerd friends?
Many of us have big hearts.
That's why you can take advantage of us.
Please don't.
Big hearts break very easily.

Why not the nerd?
Why isn't the nerd wanted until we become famous?
Lucky for you we forgive as adults.
You don't deserve less.
That's how we think.

Why not the nerd?
Really, why not?
